Employment

Indianapolis is justifiably proud of its low unemployment rate, its higher than average per capita income, and its growing economy. Drug manufacturer, Eli Lilly and Company, is by far the largest employer in the city, with about 14,000 jobs. Health care is also an important industry here, with Community Health Network, Clarian Partners, and St Vincent Hospital and Health services among the city's top six employers. Manufacturing firms, such as General Motors' Allison transmission division and Rolls Royce motors, and service companies, such as FedEx and Marsh's supermarkets, also account for thousands of Indianapolis jobs.
